Chelsea Flower Show 2012
The Furzey Gardens project is such a rewarding and well deserving charity garden and I am really proud to be working with them. This beautiful illustration has been created by Olivia Keith, Furzey's artiist in residence, who will be joining us at Chelsea to capture the spirit of the creation of the garden and the show.
I'm writing a weekly diary for Garden News, which I can share with you here so do visit our site regularly to follow us on our Journey to Chelsea.
Journey to Chelsea Flower Show - Week 12
We have taken delivery of the stone from Furzey which we have used to edge the path leading up through the garden to the building and we are really pleased how authentic it looks. With the hard landscaping completed we have turned our attention to the planting which is now well underway. It has been really exciting for everyone on the team to see lorries filled with the thousands of herbaceous plants, trees and shrubs arriving. We were initially concerned that the cold weather would mean that none of the large, species Rhododendrons would be in flower for the show but we were pleased to see there is some flower bud there so we just need a bit of sunshine to help bring them on in time. Fingers crossed!

Urban Oasis - A Groundwork & RHS initiative
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has partnered with national charity Groundwork to celebrate both charities’ work to get local communities gardening and involve more people in transforming neighbourhoods.
In a unique effort to mobilise people from all walks of life to get involved in making their streets, parks and neighbourhoods greener places to live, the RHS and Groundwork have devised a series of show gardens, designed by me and I am really honoured to be working on this project.
The gardens are themed under the title Urban Oasis and will showcase some of the most challenging urban environments where gardening, community work and good quality landscape design have brought people together and yielded powerful social benefits.
